Phelous (VO): I love that they gave us a choice. What I like about that is that if I enjoy the subtitled version, then I'm going to keep watching it. If I don't then maybe I'll go back to the English version. I think that's brilliant. Both versions have their merits, and it's up to each individual to decide which they want to see.
And I love that they add the subtitle versions. I think the translations are very good. I wish I had a way to show you the English versions that I've seen. I can tell you that the one from Australia is quite different from what we see in the United States. They changed the ending of that one. I also know that one is missing the last three minutes of the story. Does anyone have a copy they could lend me?
Cindy (VO): Oh, I love that part. I like the way they leave it up to us. If we want to watch them, then we get to. If we don't, then no one can say we didn't see them. I just love that we're left to decide what kind of viewer we are.
There are a couple of things I would like to mention about this particular release. Firstly, I think it's better to have it in Dolby 5.1 Surround instead of the Dolby Stereo Surround. It has a better sound and isn't as muffled as Dolby 2.1 Surround. Secondly, I hate the opening credits . I think they really detract from the rest of the movie. I hate the music and the way they used the cowbell. Thirdly, I think the video quality is really bad. This is a rental. I don't want to pay for it when I don't have to.
I guess maybe it's a good idea to leave it for you to discover. I do appreciate, though, that they made sure to include the international versions of the story when they were able to. I always liked the subtitle versions for the translations from these foreign countries.
The third version is the Spanish version. Like the French versions, it features several minor differences. For example, the witch has Hansel wait on the oven steps, rather than in the oven. She also doesn't put a spell on the oven to get out of it when she kills Hansel. The fourth version is the Dutch version.
Even more bizarre is that Hansel and Gretel has a lead in on the credits, while the other two are at the tail-end. I've been trying to figure that one out, but I just don't get it. My favorite part about these was the casting, though. Darken (VO) and Michael York are fantastic. Darken nails it, as always, while York just has that amazing deadpan expression on his face at all times. It's a treat to watch him work. It's like he's a genius who also happens to be insane.

Some applications, such as Java, require that the application directories and libraries are updated to a newer version before the user can update. However, there are some applications that are not explicitly API-specific, such as the X Window System, the X server source code, are automatically updated as required. 827ec27edc
