The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is a sequel of sorts to the original Stanley Parable game, with the new release came some familiar achievements, including the ambiguous '8888888888888888' achievement.
At the end of the Stanley Parable, the player gets a text message from the main character. The message is quite poignant and is quoted here in its entirety to allow you to fully understand its meaning.
There are a few reasons for this. For starters, it's just a lot harder to put a couple of pages of dialogue in the middle of a game. You're either making something that's already pretty much done or you're trying to narrate the whole thing. Neither of which are particularly fun. The second reason is that with a game like The Stanley Parable, every single piece of dialogue or text makes a difference. There's no such thing as a trivial piece of text. A subtle joke can change the entire course of the story. It's very, very difficult to predict what those tiny details might add up to. So, it's a lot easier to build off of the original script. However, this also means that the new stuff will be different from the old stuff. It's not a simple matter of swapping out the first act and writing the new stuff on top of the original. This adds a whole new layer of complications. Even for a game that's so simple to begin with.
If you're wondering why it took so long to explain that, it's because I'm glad someone else has had to explain it to you. Apparently I've been spending too much time writing about The Stanley Parable.
